Annual Directions

The annual stars (流年飛星) overlay every home the same way, and they change at 立春 each year. This is where they land, plus the three directions to leave undisturbed.

Leave these undisturbed

  • 太歲 (Grand Duke)South
  • 歲破 (Year Breaker)North
  • 三煞 (Three Killings)North

The rule for all three is the same and it is narrower than most sites suggest: avoid major disruption — demolition, drilling, heavy renovation, moving earth — in these sectors this year. Sitting, sleeping or working there is fine. 太歲 is the one direction you should not face head-on while doing major work; 三煞 covers three mountains, not just the cardinal sector.

Annual stars change at 立春, around 4 February — not on 1 January. A chart for 2026 applies from 立春 2026 to 立春 2027.

The two to watch

Star 5 (五黃) is the most disruptive of the nine and star 2 (二黑) affects health. Where they land this year, keep things quiet: no renovation, no loud activity, nothing that stirs that sector up. Metal — a heavy metal object, a metal wind chime — is the classical remedy for both.

The ones worth using

In Period 9 (2024–2043), star 9 is the prosperous one and stars 1, 4 and 8 remain useful. The sector holding 9 this year is the one to spend time in and keep active.

What this tool cannot tell you

The annual layer is temporary and identical for every building on earth. What it actually does to your home depends on what your permanent chart already has in that palace: an annual 5 landing on a palace that is already difficult is a very different matter from one landing on a strong palace. That cross-reference needs your own chart.

This page uses the same lookup tables and the same code as our paid reports. Nothing on it is generated by AI.

This is the arithmetic. The reading is the other half.

A chart tells you where the stars are. What it does not tell you is which room you sleep in, what stands outside that window, and what to do about it. That is what the full report is for.
